New things on the Horizon

So, I am always looking for new things to do with string. While I still can't knit, for some reason my hands just won't cooperate, that hasn't detoured my from broadening my fiber arts horizon. I am thinking of delving into the amazing world of macrame after seeing a beautiful macrame curtain. I just purchased a copy of

I had to track down a copy since the book is discontinued but this is the magazine that the curtain is in, supposedly. I have no idea if it is in there or not. I saw it (the curtain) on a blog and this image was with it. So, I am assuming that from the images and the dialog on the blog the curtain is in this magazine. I only paid 8 bucks for it so it's alright if it's not. It appears to have a few other things inside that I wouldn't mind learning how to make. The owl on the cover for instance is something I would love to make.

I can't wait to familiarize myself with macrame and start pairing it up with my awesome crochet skills!

Here is the curtain I really want to make.

Isn't that so cool. I'm thinking one for my kitchen window. Maybe one in the bathroom. Something cool would be to modify this into a curtain for over the shower and instead of plants... make candle holders, fake candles of coarse. i don't know, that might be too cheesy lol. Anyhow, this curtain is going to fit in well with the Mediterranean/beach theme for my kitchen and dinning room.

Here are a few other things I think are awesome.

This could be done so easily (if you knew how to macrame... and easy in the sense that you could do it yourself).

this is so cool. It reminds me of one my GG used to have. I'm thinking cool garden table.

I love this plant hanger I'm thinking of doing something like this, maybe two, in each one a big bowl holding lots of fruit and veggies!

Seriously, this is going in my garden.

This is something (above) that I could totally see me making and then working into crochet projects.

Are you kidding me! Hell yes I want to make this!

I love this! I could totally make this out back in my tree.

I think this is really cool. I don't know where I would do something like this right now though. I think it would be lovely over a table.

this makes really cool patterns on the wall.

Hell yes!

This would be a cool way to make over old lawn chairs.

Love these!

These would be cool in a garden or a little girls room.

Cool way to recycle lawn chairs.

Yes is is gaudy but omg I'm in love. I'd use like.... black or white for the cord and use metal or mineral (stones) for the beads. So neat and I'm a sucker for gaudy.

Christmas Rap Up

Well, it is that time of the year. That glorious time of the year. It is the time when I don't have cookies to bake. I don't have a giant ham to wrestle out of my freezer, getting frost bite arms. Don't worry, later I would burn them on the stove getting the ham out. So, I guess the burns cancel each other out. I don't have any shopping to do. All the decorations are getting put away slowly, as I trip over them or get them tangled around my neck while attempting to walk through a doorway. No, more fighting lights that won't light or bows that won't bow. All the candy canes have been eaten off the tree so I no longer have to yell, "Jordan! Get! OUT! of! my! TREE!" And the biggest plus is I have made a ton of crochet gifts and 98% of them are finished, have been wrapped and unwrapped and have brought joy to the select people I actually make stuff for.

I am always so happy to finish a project so I can start a new one. In this case I had like 30 projects going and I am beyond glad to be done with them. All I have left is my husbands blanket. The reason it is still half done is the yarn is NEVER in stock and if it is there is only two balls on the shelf at a time. I refuse to order it from the manufacturer because it is like 3 dollars more expensive. So, I wait. The other gift is a wonderful superhero themed crochet quilt that is making me so proud. It is 5 squares short of being done. I decided to redo the Batman square. It was my first ever attempt at this way of crocheting and as I did the others I got better and perfected my technique. So, I'm redoing it so it doesn't look like crap. ha ha. I need to make a Hulk Square, a Superman Square, and an Aquaman Square as well. He always gets left out so I thought I would include him in this project. Poor Aquaman. Also, I have a purse that, while the crochet part IS done I have lining to sew into it and then I need to attach the handle. It is for someone very special to me so I want it to be perfect.

I'd like to share with you some of the images from my crochet binge this year.

I love to see the joy that a handmade gift, one that you really put thought and heart into, put a smile on someones face. I also like to know, from that smile, that the person truly recognizes the thought and love put into every stitch. Here are my goob friends modeling the things I made them. There were A TON of these poses lol... but I thought I'd just pick my favorites.

So what is next on the agenda?

Finish the Superhero blanket
Finish the Purse
☐  Finish the U of O super plush blanket
☐  Figure out how to make these....

I hope to share some of the great patterns that I have fallen in love with with all of you & I'd love to see some of the great patterns and projects you have made... so, keep in touch and stay tuned!
